Movie Review: The Lego Batman Movie

If any of you are pondering over the idea of going to see the new Lego Batman Movie, I would 10/10 recommend. 3 years ago, I saw the first Lego Movie and it was wonderful. The people behind the “Lego” movies really know how to keep everyone entertained whether it be kids, teens, or adults. Of course the kids love the idea of the movie, seeing their inanimate toys come to life. For the adults, these movies are full of sly and spontaneous humor. This time, Lego decided to take advantage of their arguably most beloved collection, the Batman series. On February 10th, theaters across the nation released the new Lego Batman Movie. It grossed over 53 million dollars just in the opening weekend; now that number has nearly tripled in almost a month. I really enjoyed the film. There was a great cast of voices. Will Arnett as Batman, Zach Galifianakis as the Joker, Michael Cera as Robin, Rosario Dawson as Batgirl, and Ralph Fiennes as Alfred. My favorite character was Dick Grayson/Robin. After watching the film, I read up on the evolution of Robin and I really enjoyed their interpretation of him in the film. They combined a series of Robin’s together to form theirs, where Dick is an orphan and is adopted by Bruce/Batman. In this adoption, Dick soon becomes Robin/Nightwing. I think they did a good job with the rest of the characters as well, following Batman’s story. They even decided to make an emotional appeal through Batman and the Joker’s relationship as enemies, almost as if they were family. Batman is always able to defeat the Joker, but never able to get-rid of him; he’s a constant problem. In the film, the Joker romanticizes the relationship they have being enemies and hating each other (almost like loving each other). Anyway, I don’t want to ruin the whole movie for you guys, but I totally recommend seeing it. It’s so funny and anyone could go see it, with or without prior knowledge of characters, etc. Go out and see it, before they take it out of theaters! And if you have seen the movie, please comment your thoughts on the film! xx Mad
